Avocado Chocolate Mousse

Avocados are often a part of my meal, in salads, soups, or as guacamole. Surprising though, I most often use them for dessert — as the filling for key lime pie, and more often as a rich and healthful chocolate mousse:


  • 2 lg Hass Avocados
  • ¼ cup honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup
  • ¼ cup cacao powder (available in the Bulk section)


Combine all ingredients in a food processor until a smooth consistency is reached. You may want to use a spatula to scrape the sides and process briefly again. You can also add ¼ cup of coconut cream for a lighter taste and texture. This dessert is quick and easy, and unless you tell them nobody will know that this creamy concoction contains avocados.

Avocados are high in potassium, vitamin C, B6, and magnesium. Chocolate is high in antioxidants (especially raw cacao) and is known to elevate one’s mood.
