Another Successful Event

We left the house for work yesterday at 5:30 in the morning and didn’t get home until 8:00 that night, but it was well worth it.

Last night was our second wine tasting event for the Eat Local Challenge. It was a lecture and tasting based on blends and why they exist. It was a fun, educational evening and was pretty well attended. Mark Henry has promised to do another lecture and tasting in November. It’s definitely something to look forward to.

Of course, it was such a busy day I didn’t eat after 10:00 a.m., but once the tasting started there was plenty of regional raw cheese and Flour Garden bread to nibble on. Once we got home, we finally had a meal — the third day of leftovers of a cold salad with chicken. I used local arugula, some baby spinach, some gorgeous local basil, roasted bell pepper, olive oil, and regional chicken. I put the entire recipe on BriarPatch’s Facebook page. It was definitely a winner and just as good on the third day as the first. I was so tired by the time we got home last night, I was grateful for the leftovers.
