I dragged myself out of bed this morning, took a shower, and drank some coffee. Oops. Of course, coffee doesn’t grow in our lovely climate, but I HAD meant to buy some locally roasted beans to use during the challenge. (Currently I have Sacred Grounds, my favorite. It’s roasted in Arcata, California, but that’s a little far away for this challenge. Especially when we have two terrific roasters in the area.) There’s no way I’m going to be able to give up coffee. At this point, I think it’s a part of my DNA. So this afternoon I’ll buy a bag of Caroline’s and start tomorrow fresh.
Now what will I make for dinner? I had planned on leftovers, but said leftovers don’t qualify for the challenge either. BriarPatch is still overflowing with peaches. Maybe I’ll make a nice salad of peaches, local basil, regional olive oil and mozzarella. That will go nicley with a bottle of white wine from Lucchesi. Now I’m getting into this whole challenge thing. Onward!
